Welcome to Brewer Leaders!

Hello and welcome to Brewer Leaders!  I suppose I should explain a little bit of what this site is and who I am.  So let's get started shall we...

Dev Summary for July 7, 2008

After each development session I plan on summarizing what I accomplished for the day.

Dev Summary for July 8, 2008

Exciting times today! Originally I had planned to finish up the standard blog features but that sounded pretty boring to me so I decided to get into the meat of the site.

Strike Outs Leaderboards Added

I couldn't rest on my laurels after getting the Home Runs Leaderboard added, so I cranked out the Strike Outs board.

Check out the Hits Leaderboard

I hadn't planned on working on the site today, but my previous plans fell through so I've added a new Leaderboard. Check out the Brewer leaders for Hits.

Dev Summary for July 9, 2008

Another day, another session of coding, and we've got more progress at Brewer Leaders. I still need to get a lot of the back-end blog things done, but if I don't end a session with noticeable progress then I'm more likely to quit. But let's summarize!

First Inconsistencies Found

A couple days ago I discovered some inconsistencies between data I have. It all started with how I have the 1970-2007 data, then the 2008 up to date data. The legacy data had Dave Bush listed as David Bush, and the 2008 data had him listed as Dave Bush. Since I base first name and last name as the main criteria for grouping season data, Dave Bush lost out on all 2008 data so he was stuck at 300 career strike outs even though he was at 353. I first noticed it when I looked up Dave Bush when he had the 13 strikeout performance to see where he was and I couldn't find him. I figured out what was going on, and have since corrected previous year's data to Dave Bush so we won't have the problem with him going forward. That doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet, so if you think some of the leaderboards are off let me know and I'll fix it. I'll continue to monitor the boards to see if people aren't moving properly.

RBI Leaderboard Added

I haven't had an opportunity to work on the website much the past few days, so I've decided to add the RBI Leaderboard. A number of current Brewers on the list, 8 if I'm counting properly. Prince Fielder is really climbing the ranks. The other thing I noticed is that Corey Hart is jumping fast too, he's only 5 RBI behind J.J. Hardy and I guess having 24 RBI in June really helps that out for Mr. Sunglasses at night.

Updates Resume Tomorrow

The All-Star game break is over, the National League lost again (no surprise there), and with that regular updates to the Leaderboards will resume tomorrow after tonight's game against the Giants. There probably won't be any development updates in the next week as I'll be down in Chicago (I'm sorry) for a business trip.

Congratulations Prince on 100 HR

Today Prince Fielder became only the 16th player in Brewer history to hit 100 career home runs for the franchise (the leaderboard won't update until tomorrow morning). The home run was a no-doubter in today's game against the Giants that landed in McCovey Cove in the seventh inning that put the Brewers ahead. It was instrumental in getting another win, and getting us closer to a playoff push.

Single Season records added

I briefly mentioned in my last post that Google has begun indexing Brewer Leaders and I couldn't be happier for that. I checked my Google Analytics tool for the site and noticed that people have started trickling in from searches. One that really caught my attention was someone looking for the season leaders for Home Runs. This was something that I didn't originally think of since all I was ever interested in was all-time leaders, but obviously someone is interested in the seasons and who am I to say that it shouldn't have a place at Brewer Leaders.

Wins leaderboards added

Pitchers haven't been getting a lot of love on Brewer Leaders lately. They don't even have their stats on the Player pages and before tonight, only Strike Outs were being tracked. No longer is that the case. I haven't finished the Player page, but the Wins leaderboard has gone live. Check out the All-Time and Season boards.

Subscribe to Brewer Leaders RSS feed

I've been doing a lot of updates to the Leaderboards, but I haven't really gotten back to finishing up the blog portion. I made a little splash today when I whipped out our very own RSS feed. The feed will have the last 10 posts, so you can use that to get updates at what's going on here.

Doubles leaderboards added

Another day, another leaderboard added. This time you can see how the Brewers have hit 2-baggers. Feel free to check out the All-Time board and the Season board. Unfortunately, I don't have much else to say about it up top, but let's go onto some more observations:
